Nazanin Moradi is an Iranian-born, London-based painter. She studied Painting at Soore University in Tehran. She later completed her MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, (UAL) in 2016.

Her work is shaped by the relationship between figure, space and material. Working primarily with oil paint, oil pastel and charcoal, she develops paintings through drawing, layering, erasure and reconstruction. Figures and spaces shift through the process, sometimes merging with one another until the distinction between body and surrounding space is constantly in negotiation.

Her painting practice has developed alongside performance, body painting, photography, installation and digital media. These different mediums have become part of the way she works with the body, movement and space. Her paintings bring together recognisable human forms with fragmented and changing figures. Colour moves through the paintings as the forms emerge, disappear and merge, creating shifts between tenderness, tension and ambiguity.

Moradi’s work has been exhibited internationally across the UK, Europe, West Asia and the United States.
